Breast Screening Programme

At Leeds City Medical Practice, we are dedicated to ensuring the health and well-being of all our patients. One important aspect of your health care is breast screening, which can help detect potential issues early, leading to better outcomes and treatment options.

Breast screening is a medical test that checks for early signs of breast cancer in women who have no symptoms. It can detect changes before you notice anything yourself, allowing for early intervention and more effective treatment.

Who is Eligible for Breast Screening?

  • Women aged 50 to 70: You will be automatically invited to attend breast screening every 3 years as part of the NHS Breast Screening Programme.
  • Women over 70: You can still request a screening by contacting your GP practice.

Why is Breast Screening Important?

Regular breast screening can identify signs of breast cancer early, when it is most treatable. Even if you are not experiencing symptoms, screening can catch changes in the breast tissue that may not be visible or felt.

How to Book Your Appointment

You will shortly be receiving an invitation to attend breast screening at SJUH (Lincoln Wing), if eligible. Please look out for the appointment letter arriving through the post.
